The high-performance side-by-side market has long been a two-horse race between the Polaris RZR Pro and the Can-Am Maverick R. That dynamic shifted significantly last year with the introduction of the Kawasaki Teryx H2, a 250-horsepower, supercharged machine that challenged the status quo. However, the launch was unconventional; Kawasaki debuted the vehicle exclusively in four- and five-seat layouts, leaving enthusiasts wondering about a more agile, two-seat variant.
According to reporting from RideApart, which cites information originally surfaced by UTV Driver, there is growing speculation that a two-seat Teryx H2 could be on the way. The rumors gained traction following discussions at dealerships, leading many to believe that the shorter-wheelbase model is currently in development.
While Kawasaki has not provided an official confirmation, their communication with the press has been notably coy. When asked for comment on both the rumors and a current stop-sale recall for the existing H2, a company spokesperson stated: "Nothing to share at this point on future products, but we will be announcing quite a few 2027 side-by-sides in early June – be on the lookout."
Journalists covering the space, such as those at RideApart, have pointed out that a direct denial would have been the standard response if the project were off the table. The specific mention of a June timeframe adds weight to the possibility of an imminent reveal. Engineering a two-seat version of a 250-horsepower vehicle presents unique challenges, particularly in chassis tuning and handling, which may explain the delayed rollout compared to the larger seating configurations.
For now, the industry remains in a waiting period. As RideApart notes, enthusiasts should keep a close watch on Kawasaki’s official announcements in the coming weeks to see if the two-seat performance machine finally breaks cover.
