The CFMOTO 1000MT-X is headed to the United States, but it will be sold under a different name. According to Motorcycle.com, the adventure bike has been certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and will be sold as the 2027 CFMOTO Ibex 950.

The Ibex 950 was first revealed at EICMA in November 2025. Its arrival will expand CFMOTO's adventure lineup, joining the existing Ibex 800E and Ibex 450.

CFMOTO's collaboration with KTM is evident in the Ibex 950's design. The steel trellis frame bears a strong resemblance to that of the KTM 890 Adventure R, though the Ibex 950 features a unique rear subframe. The fuel tank is also similar to KTM's saddle-shaped design, which helps lower the bike's center of gravity.

One key difference lies in the engine. While the Ibex 950's 946cc parallel-twin engine appears to be based on KTM’s LC8c 990 engine, it is not confirmed to be identical. Motorcycle.com notes the engine casings and bore/stroke measurements (92.5mm bore and 70.4mm stroke) are the same. CFMOTO claims the engine produces 111.3 hp at 8,500 rpm and 77.4 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 rpm. These figures suggest a focus on adventure riding, as the 990 Duke's engine delivers higher peak horsepower (123 hp at 9,500 rpm) but similar torque (76 lb-ft at 6,750 rpm).

Notably, CFMOTO is launching the 1000MT-X before KTM has announced its own 990 Adventure model. Motorcycle.com suggests that KTM's financial situation may have caused delays in its product launches, pushing back the release of some models.

In Italy, the CFMOTO 1000MT-X has a starting price of €10,490 (approximately US$12,350), while the 800MT-X is priced at €8,990 (around US$10,600). Given that the Ibex 800E retails for $10,299 in the U.S., the Ibex 950 is estimated to be priced around $12,000.
