According to a report by Robbie Bacon at RideApart, Arai is set to release a special limited-edition version of its flagship RX-7X helmet. This new lid celebrates the rising MotoGP career of Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura, who has made a significant impact on the grid following his 2025 debut.
The helmet is the Japanese-market equivalent of the globally recognized Corsair-X. It features a striking aesthetic that blends modern racing energy with traditional Japanese motifs. The base design uses various shades of blue with flowing lines and indigo accents. The graphic incorporates the 'Edo Kiriko Chrysanthemum Connection' and 'Three Square Connection' patterns, while the rear of the helmet displays the kanji for 'Fujin Raijin,' representing the Wind and Thunder gods. Additionally, the helmet features Ogura’s racing number, 79, written in kanji numerals.
As noted by RideApart, the RX-7X remains Arai's top-of-the-line racing helmet. It is constructed from the company's proprietary PB-SNC2 high-strength fiber. A standout feature is the aerodynamic rear fin, which is engineered to detach upon impact. This design choice aligns with Arai’s 'glancing off' safety philosophy, ensuring that the helmet does not snag or rotate excessively during an accident, thereby maintaining the brand's strict safety standards.
The helmet is scheduled to hit the market in late August. However, prospective buyers should be aware that the release will be limited in both duration and quantity. As of the current reporting, there has been no official confirmation of a US release date, meaning interested riders may need to explore import options to secure a unit.
