KTM has unveiled the 2026 KTM 1390 Super Duke RR, a more extreme and focused version of its already potent Super Duke R. According to motorcycle.com, this new model boasts upgraded components, weight savings, and advanced electronics, promising an even more exhilarating riding experience.
The Super Duke RR last received a double-R variant in 2021 when it was still a 1290. Now, KTM has given the 1390 platform the same treatment. Troy Siahaan said the Super Duke R EVO “increases the ridiculousness to another level.” So, how much more extreme can KTM get?
Here's a closer look at what makes the 1390 Super Duke RR stand out:
- Weight Reduction: The RR makes extensive use of carbon fiber, resulting in a claimed weight of 417 pounds without fuel. This is a significant reduction compared to the 442 pounds claimed for the standard Super Duke R, according to KTM.
- Premium Suspension: The 1390 Super Duke RR features a WP Pro Components suspension system. This includes a racing-focused closed cartridge spring fork with manually adjustable compression and rebound damping. KTM claims the internally pressurized reservoir provides consistent oil pressure, ensuring precise damping. The rear shock is a WP 8750 unit developed specifically for the RR, featuring a 50mm piston and 14mm piston rod. It is fully adjustable, including separate high- and low-speed compression settings.
- Enhanced Braking: KTM equipped the Super Duke RR with Brembo HyPure four-piston monobloc calipers. KTM claims these calipers offer a 0.22-pound weight saving, 10% less lever force, and 50% less lever travel compared to the standard Super Duke's Stylema M4.30 calipers. The front brakes are paired with 320mm floating discs, while the rear uses a 240mm disc and a two-piston floating caliper.
- Forged Wheels: The RR rolls on forged wheels with a seven-spoke design inspired by KTM's RC16 MotoGP race bike. KTM claims each wheel weighs 3.3 pounds less than the cast wheels on the standard R model. They are fitted with Michelin Power GP tires.
- Unchanged Engine: KTM left the 1,350cc LC8 V-Twin engine unchanged. It still delivers a claimed 190 hp at 10,000 rpm and 107 lb-ft of torque at 8,000 rpm. However, the RR does come standard with a titanium Akrapovič slip-on exhaust for reduced weight and a more aggressive sound.
- Advanced Electronics: The Super Duke RR comes standard with the Tech Pack, which includes a bidirectional quickshifter, engine brake control, motor slip regulation, wheelie control, launch control, adjustable traction control, and selectable ride modes. The Tech Pack also adds a Track mode and a new Beast mode. Beast mode reduces electronic aid intrusion while still meeting street legal requirements.
Production of the 2026 KTM 1390 Super Duke RR will be limited to just 350 units, according to motorcycle.com. Pricing in the U.K. is £24,999 (US$33,900). The Super Duke R and R EVO are priced at £17,799 and £19,499 respectively. In the U.S., the EVO model comes in at $22,149, so if the 1390 Super Duke RR eventually comes stateside, we can expect the price tag to be around $28-29k. Availability in the U.S. has not been confirmed.
